Jeffco Public Schools offers curriculum and academic programs designed to give students the skills they need to compete in college or the workplace. Our mission is to provide a quality education that prepares all children for a successful future.
Standards - Ensuring a Generation of Critical Thinkers
The Colorado Academic Standards (CAS) are the expectations of what students need to know and be able to do at the end of each grade according to the Colorado Department of Education. State standards are the basis of the annual state assessment such as the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS). There is also a national initiative adopted by 45 states and the District of Columbia, the Common Core, designed to align academic standards across U.S. educational systems. Jeffco Public Schools is on the forefront of implementing curriculum that aligns with standards to ensure our students are prepared for success in college and careers.
Family and community guides to the Colorado Academic Standards for kindergarten through 5th-grade have been created by the Colorado Department of Education to help families and communities across Colorado better understand the goals and outcomes of the Colorado Academic Standards.
School & District Accountability Systems
Colorado evaluates the performance of students, schools and school districts through the District Performance Framework and the School Performance Frameworks. They hold districts and schools accountable for performance on the same, single set of indicators and measures.
